While my preference is in-person therapy, I recognize this can be challenging for certain clients due to other obligations, time, physical challenges, etc. Therefore, I do offer virtual sessions to North Carolina and South Carolina residents.
I am an in-network provider with most Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna plans
It is your responsibility to check your own insurance coverage, co-pay, and deductible. It can be helpful to ask your insurance provider the following questions:
Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
What is my co-pay?
How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session? Is there a co-pay and how much is it? Is there a co-insurance and what is it?
Will I need to obtain pre-authorization from my insurance company before starting therapy?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
If your health insurance carrier allows you to choose an out-of-network provider (usually a PPO plan), I will gladly provide you with a monthly statement so that you can seek reimbursement from your insurance provider.
My rates for private-pay and out-of-network clients are the same:
55 minute sessions: $150
I do keep a limited number of reduced fee clients on my caseload (from $100-140 depending on income level).
Payments may be made with cash, check, HSA, Visa or Mastercard.
Sessions are generally 55 minutes long. I sometimes offer extended sessions for family therapy, depending on the situation.
In the beginning, it is generally most helpful for us to meet weekly or every other week. Over time, as progress is made, we will meet less frequently. Although there are many exceptions, some clients make desired changes on straightforward, present-day issues within 6-12 sessions, while those working through long-term trauma, complicated grief, or ongoing depression or anxiety will generally need more sessions to meet their goals. Ultimately, how long you participate in therapy will be up to you.
Yes, missed appointments or appointments canceled less than 24 hours in advance (except in the event of an emergency) will be charged for the session time. When you schedule an appointment, that clinical hour is reserved for you. In doing so, I am unable to provide service to other clients during that time so it is important that you commit to being present for your sessions.
If you are late, we will meet for the remainder of the scheduled session. If you are more than 15 minutes late and I have not heard from you, I will assume you are not coming and may leave the office.
